Of all the bowed strings, it is the viola that has become the butt of the jokes (which we all hear, and laugh at privately — even viola players do — honestly)
Playing a "fifth lower" than the violins, the violas are a part of the foundation of much popular and classical music. Whereas violins are standardized in much of their measurement, violas come in a wide variety of sizes and styles. And, while violins are quite standardized with 355 MM long bodies, violas are usually measured in inches, and may range from 12 1/2" to 17" long. A 16" viola is considered my most to be "standard". Our selection of violas can range widely.
We carry a variety of violas in our shop. Stop in, call, or email me for more information.
